If you are a pay monthly customer that travels in remote locations of the world where GSM networks are not available, you may connect to Thuraya’s satellite network.
To connect to Thuraya’s satellite network you need to insert your CYTAGSM SIM card in one of Thuraya’s satellite phones, which are currently available in Cyprus.
Thuraya’s satellite phones can operate efficiently in both satellite and GSM mode, automatically switching to satellite mode whenever you are out of the reach of a GSM network. Moreover, you have the flexibility to select between satellite and GSM mode through your phone’s menu.
Finally, most of the Thuraya’s mobile phones offer location determination capability through GPS (Global Positioning System) with an accuracy of 100m, a powerful tool for navigational and personal security.
Where can I use it?
Thuraya’s satellite network offers coverage in European, Northern and Central African, Central Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Service is also available in the Red Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the Arabian Sea, the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Dead Sea, the Caspian Sea, the Black Sea and in parts of the Indian Ocean.

If you are a pay monthly customer you can now use your mobile phone while cruising in the high seas! All you have to do is make sure that Cytamobile-Vodafone has in place a roaming agreement with the network that serves the cruise ship or ferry boat you are travelling with.
The services available with each network are according to what services the Maritime Networks support. For example, if there is no availability for GPRS roaming with a specific network, then access to data services, such as browsing the internet, will not be available. Further information on how to use the service is available on board of the ships that support Maritime Roaming.
Where can I use it?
You can use your mobile phone on board of boats and cruise ships that cooperate with the Maritime networks that we have an international roaming agreement with. Once the ship is in international waters and there is not land GSM network available the Maritime service will be activated. When you're connected to the Maritime network, you will receive the following welcome message (SMS):
“Welcome onboard! You are connected to a maritime network.
