2001
Establishment of BesTel Communications Ltd. A joint venture between CYTA and ZTE Corporation of China, which aims at providing abroad high technology solutions in the field of telecommunications.

Official delivery of the Inteligent Network Services Platform by ZTE Corporation.

Access to the “Audiotex Services” via CYTAGSM Mobile Telephony.

Introduction of the “i-choice” service which provides fast and permanent connection to the Internet.

CYTA adopts the name “CytaGlobal” for its international activities, aiming at a dynamic and more effective promotion of its international products.

Introduction of “cybee”, the first mobile portal in Cyprus, which offers fast and immediate access to information or sources of information anytime of the day and from anywhere.

Commencement of operation of the BSFOCS (Black Sea Fibre Optic Cable System), which connects Bulgaria with Russia and Ukraine. CYTA is a co-owner and the commercial administrator of the system.

A new Customer Service Office operates in Polis (Paphos) bringing the total number to 11 nationwide.

Introduction of the new “National Numbering Plan”, which changed all 6-digit numbers to 8-digit.

Introduction of the “Personal Number Service”, enabling easier communication with customers who have several numbers and are constantly on the move.

Official opening of the first CYTA Park in Strovolos, created in the framework of CYTA’s contribution to public works and the environment and its declaration made in the context of the Organisation’s 40th anniversary celebrations in 2001.

Introduction of the prepaid “CYTA COMMcard”, with which customers can make calls (national and international) and charge them to the card instead of their telephone.

Introduction of the new product “i-choice BusinessLite”, designed for those wishing to set up a local computer network.
