Cytamobile-Vodafone announces the
commercial launch, as of April 3rd 2006, of the new service
Vodafone Mobile Connect. The service is specially designed to
satisfy business customers’ needs by making their work more
efficient and productive, when they are away from their office or
working place.
The service
is targeted to all those who use portable computers (laptops), work
several hours away from the office or travel abroad frequently. It
operates with the use of a special 3G/GPRS datacard, a Data SIM and
special software. It provides easy, reliable and wireless access
through Cytamobile-Vodafone’s 2G and 3G networks for:

Internet
access

Access to
corporate applications

Sending &
Receiving of email
-
Sending &
Receiving of SMS messages
The service
can be used whilst abroad at the networks with which International
Roaming Agreements for GPRS and/or 3G are in place. The list of
these networks, which is continuously enriched, is available in
Cytamobile-Vodafone’s webpage.
The service
is available in all Cytamobile-Vodafone Sales Network shops and
through the Business Customers’ Account Managers and is offered in
two editions. The Internet edition allows access to
the internet, email and the ability to send and receive SMS
messages. Additionally, it allows access to corporate applications,
through a VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunnel, if the company’s
security policy allows it. The Office edition allows
access to corporate applications through a VPN tunnel and the
ability to send and receive SMS messages. It also allows access to
the internet through the company’s LAN, if the security permissions
allow it.
The customer
can select between the two Cytamobile-Vodafone pay monthly data
plans depending on his needs. The charging is based on the
volume of data he uses. It should be noted that the charges for the
use of the service whilst abroad are different from the charges for
usage within Cyprus (relevant information can be found in Cytamobile-Vodafone’s
webpage).
Vodafone
Mobile Connect is the first service offered by Cytamobile-Vodafone
that utilizes the 3G network that CYTA has been developing.
The
commercial launch of the Cytamobile-Vodafone 3G network, eleven
years after the launch of its 2G network, will improve customer
experience especially for data services. The development of
Cytamobile-Vodafone 3G network proceeds with special emphasis on the
quality of the services offered in order to satisfy customers’
needs.
