OF CYTA, TO ENTER THE HUNGARIAN BROADBAND MARKET WITH NEW
REVOLUTIONARY SERVICES
Actel Kft. (Actel Limited
Liability Company) announced ïn Monday 13 March the start of its
commercial operation in Hungary. The company in which CYTA holds a
majority stake, has secured foundation for the provision of
multimedia triple play services that are becoming popular at an
amazing rate in Western Europe. Members of the Boards of CYTA and
Actel, respectively announced the new company’s emergence in the
market in the presence of Political Secretary of State of the
Ministry for Informatics and Communications, Dr. György Csepeli and
Mr. Philippos K. Kritiotis, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of
the Republic of Cyprus, as well as representatives of the media and
other invited businessmen in the Kempinski Hotel Corvinus, Budapest.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Budapest, Mr. Zu
Shou Zhu also honoured the event with his presence.
Explaining the
business objectives of the venture, Pál Horváth, Actel’s Managing
Director said: "We want to create a successful and profit-making
business in Hungary, one that provides Triple Play (3Play) –
Internet, telephony and digital TV – services of guaranteed quality,
relying on an optical backbone network with a transmission speed
measured in gigabits per second, and on the latest ADSL and IP
technologies. We wish to be number one in introducing to the wider
public new and revolutionary services such as the virtual PABX voice
features, Video-on-Demand (an online video library, i.e. the playing
of movies of your choice, selected from your home in digital
quality) and Delayed TV (the possibility to view a TV broadcast at
a later time)."
The company’s
plans for the future include many other exciting novelties to be
launched gradually over the one-year period ahead of us. Actel
services are mainly targeted at residents with the demand for
quality and comfort and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Following an
introductory presentation on Actel, the managing director explained
that the company’s success fundamentally depends on the partners
used for rolling out its own infrastructure. Siemens Rt. has
delivered to Actel the equipment of the broadband IP network
(access and backbone network), while the IP switching system (VoIP
and video switching) has come from the ZTE Corp. of China.
On Behalf of
CYTA Mr. Doros Ktoridis Member of the Board said:
"CYTA
has made significant investments in Cyprus towards the creation of
an Intelligent Broadband Network, which combines the intelligence
normally found in computer networks, with the new access
technologies such as ADSL. As a result, all telephone exchanges in
urban areas are now equipped with ADSL capability and are connected
to the Intelligent Broadband Network of CYTA. The same technological
platform has allowed CYTA to pioneer the introduction of digital,
interactive television services in Cyprus.
In addition,
CYTA has created a state-of-the-art network between Cyprus, Greece,
and the U.K., the services of which are being promoted globally
under the commercial name CytaWorld.Net. Hungary will be added as
well and international telecommunication traffic will be terminated
at Actel.
CYTA has
recently intensified its efforts for expanding its operations
abroad. Last December we started operating in the U.K., now we have
Actel, and soon we are going to have an announcement for Greece as
well."
Answering Press
question "Why Hungary?" Mr Ktoridis said the following:
"We have
decided to invest in Hungary because it is a member of the European
Union, the rules of which we know very well. In addition, the
Hungarian market has shown significant demand in advanced broadband
services and applications, with a significant potential for growth,
especially in the field of services Actel intends to offer."
