Press Release: 67/2002 Friendly to the Environment
Inauguration of a complex of fountains in the Nicosia Municipal GardenThe complex of fountains sponsored by CYTA was inaugurated by the Mayor of Nicosia and the Chairman of CYTA at a special event held in the grounds of the Municipal Garden of Nicosia on Tuesday, 17 September 2002.
The project, which has been realised in co-operation with the Nicosia Municipality, is part of CYTA's environmental policy and social contribution. The complex of fountains in the Municipal Garden of Nicosia is one of a series of projects of an environmental character which includes, inter alia, the creation of parks. The parks, which are created in the major cities of Cyprus and called "CYTA Parks" will gradually be enriched with intelligent and attractive games inspired by the theme of telecommunications.
In a brief address CYTA's Chairman Mr. Stathis Papadakis underlined that "In its course towards Europe, CYTA wishes to leave its mark on the environment" and has for a long time now been carrying out significant projects.
Welcoming those attending the event and thanking CYTA for its contribution, the Mayor of Nicosia, Mr. M. Zambelas, stressed: "We are happy to co-operate with a dynamic and pioneering organisation like CYTA which shows particular sensitivity to environmental matters and this at a time when Cyprus is in the final phase of the course towards its accession to the European Union".
