Cooperation between CYTA and ZTE breaks new ground
in offering Intelligent Network Services

The Cyprus Telecommunications Authority’s customers will be able to enjoy new and upgraded Intelligent Network services in the near future, after today’s official delivery of the necessary equipment by the manufacturer, ZTE Corporation of China.

The official delivery of the Intelligent Network services platform provided by ZTE Corporation of China took place during a ceremony on Friday January 12, 2001 at CYTA’s Head Offices.  The ceremony was organised as part of a visit by delegations from the government of China and ZTE Corporation to Cyprus.  Members of the two companies’ board of directors and top management, representatives from the embassy of China and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.

During the ceremony, the documents for the delivery of the Intelligent Network services platform were signed by CYTA’s General Manager Mr. Nicos M. Timotheou and ZTE Corporation’s Senior Vice President Mr. Shi Lirong.

The Intelligent Network technology has the capability to offer a great number of advanced and specialised services, which serve a wide range of telecommunications needs of both fixed and mobile telephony customers, like fast design based on customers’ needs, quality, personalised and exact charging, privacy, management of service features by the customers themselves etc.

CYTA is already commercially offering, via the Intelligent Network, the Prepaid GSM service SoEasy, while the commercial introduction of new services like the Personal Number Service (one number for fixed, mobile telephone and voicemail), the Prepaid Card for Fixed Telephony, the Calling Card Service, and the Virtual Private Network and Corporate Numbering Service is planned for 2001.  At the same time CYTA will offer, via the Intelligent Network, upgraded versions of existing services like the Freephone Service, the Universal Access Number Service, Televoting and the Premium Rate Service.
