:: ANNUAL REPORT 2006

They’ve succeeded. In eight Regions and five Municipalities in Greece, broadband infrastructures and services will be developed by CYTA. In the end it’s only faith in your own abilities that brings you closer to achieving your aims.SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES

Digimed Communications Ltd
The mission of CYTA's subsidiary company, Digimed Communications Ltd, is to support the Organisation’s strategic goals and exploit growth opportunities in Cyprus and elsewhere. This is achieved through the provision of value-added services and integrated solutions to the local market and abroad through its subsidiaries.

For Digimed Communications Ltd, 2006 was a year of development, growth and expansion, with subsidiaries operating in Cyprus, Greece, the UK and Hungary, offering a wide range of services in sectors related to telecommunications, technology and the Internet.

Of particular importance to the company's foreign expansion efforts is the project secured by CYTA/Digimed for developing broadband infrastructure in various parts of Greece, with a total population of approximately 946.000. The project is co-financed by the 3rd Community Support Framework and the Greek government and managed by Information Society SA. The success of the project is crucial as the Organisation considers that its long, successful experience and its technical know-how in the Cyprus market will enable it to become a major player in the Greek telecommunications market.  CYTA/Digimed proceeded with the establishment of CYTA Hellas SA (the subsidiary previously operating as CYTA Hellas was renamed CytaGlobal Hellas), which was contracted to Information Society SA for the implementation of the project.

Actel Ltd
Actel Communications Ltd, in which CYTA has a majority shareholding, has developed the necessary infrastructure and has now reached the commercial operations stage as an alternative provider of mainly broadband communication services in the Hungarian market.

In order for the company to provide high quality total communication solutions to consumers, it operates its own broadband network which consists of a DSL access network, softswitch technology and will have a digital content delivery platform in the very near future. Actel is seeking to forge partnerships with other communications firms in Hungary with which it will provide jointly and efficiently a complete portfolio of services.

The company’s strategic aim is to become established as one of the main telecommunications players in the Hungarian market. To this end, Actel is developing the necessary infrastructure and product portfolio in order to meet the needs of business and home customers alike.

By establishing Actel, CYTA has taken another step towards accomplishing its goal of expanding operations abroad and has laid the foundations for extending into Central Europe its established international network which connects Cyprus with Greece and the UK.

BesTel Communications Ltd
BesTel Communications Ltd was established in May 2001 as BesTelComms and was activated in September of the same year. The company is a joint venture between CYTA and ZTE Corporation, one of the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturing corporations in China.

The company's mission is to support the internationalisation efforts of ZTE, to provide integrated telecommunications solutions and to participate in potential investments in telecommunications projects.

CYTA Hellas SA
Under the Greek government’s strategy to increase the penetration of broadband infrastructure and services in provincial areas, Information Society SA - which belongs to the Ministry of Communications and Transport - competitively selected investors for seven regions of Greece in order to subsidise their capital and operational expenses for the above purpose by 50%. The total subsidised budget is €210m and includes €160m for the deployment of broadband infrastructure and another €50m for increasing the demand for such services.

CYTA, together with its subsidiary Digimed Communications Ltd, submitted a bid for the above tender requesting a subsidy for two of the seven regions and was selected to invest in region 5, which includes Grevena, Pella, Kastoria, Kozani, Florina, Heraklion, Lassithi, Imathia and the municipalities of Salamina, Aegina, Agkistri, Poros and Ampelakia, which have a total population of 946.419.

This investment activity fulfils CYTA’s strategic objective of expanding its operations abroad and creates the necessary platform for a gradual expansion into other regions of Greece.

The subsidised budget for the development of broadband infrastructure and services in region 5 amounts to €27,7m, including the budget for pushing the initial demand for such services. The maximum investment by the Greek government is €13,9m and comes from the 3rd Community Support Framework, which is managed by Information Society SA.

The project has been assigned to CYTA Hellas SA, a subsidiary of CYTA and Digimed Communications, which was established in order to deliver the project by October 2008.

The success of the project is of great importance to CYTA as it marks what is hoped to be the beginning of many similar business opportunities.

CYTA UK Ltd
In line with CYTA’s policy of expanding its operations abroad, Digimed Communications Ltd established CYTA UK Ltd in the UK in February 2000 as part of its strategy to build a strong presence in the telecommunications markets of countries with significant Cypriot communities. CYTA UK Ltd is managed by a 6-member Board, including CYTA executives and Digimed Communications Ltd Board Members.

CYTA UK Ltd, in association with CYTA and CytaGlobal Hellas SA, has developed a   private self-healing advanced-technology ring cable network, based on the IP/MPLS protocol, with nodes in Lefkosia (Nicosia), Athens and London and with international extensions beyond. This private network, promoted globally as CytaWorld.Net, integrates voice, data and video into a single global broadband application with a very competitive pricing structure, ensuring end-to-end global solutions.

Since November 2005, CYTA UK has provided fixed telephony services in the UK retail market based on the carrier-pre-selection model which enables customers to choose CYTA UK as their alternative carrier. Calls within the UK and beyond are routed via CYTA UK’s partner in the UK, whilst calls to Cyprus and Greece are routed via the CytaWorld.Net platform. CYTA UK retail products cater for the needs of customers exhibiting high traffic profiles to Cyprus and/or Greece, in particular members of the Greek speaking community in the UK.

Voice communication products and services are integrated in customised telephony packages for calls within the UK and to all international destinations. To this end, international calls to Cyprus are offered at the same rate as local calls in the UK and, depending on the package, these can even be completely free. Extending CYTA’s strategy of providing high quality integrated solutions, CYTA UK has recently upgraded its residential packages, maximising its competitive advantage with inclusive free calls to Cyprus mobiles.

CYTA UK’s successful operations continued in 2006 with the launch of cytabusiness packages tailored specifically for the needs of the business sector. Currently, CYTA UK is in the process of completing the final planning stage for the provision of broadband services, offering comprehensive end-to-end solutions at competitive prices.

Furthermore, in association with CYTA and CytaGlobal Hellas SA, CYTA UK can provide comprehensive, end-to-end solutions, including ATM/Frame Relay connections and network-based VPNs to business customers. Network-based VPNs, branded commercially as CytaConnect, allow for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint international connections for voice, video and data traffic across geographically separated customer locations. Thanks to the strength of CYTA’s network, CYTA UK can also put together wholesale solutions, integrating voice and Internet communication. Moreover, in association with other partner networks, CYTA UK can provide secure backbone fibre networks and local loop access facilities.

CytaCom Solutions Ltd
006 was a year during which the Organisation’s ability to provide high quality integrated telecommunications and IT solutions via its subsidiary company CytaCom Solutions Ltd was confirmed.

The success of 2005 continued in 2006 with the implementation of important networking, telephony and information technology projects. Galileo is one such distinguished project, via which we supplied IT equipment and networked a great number of tourist agencies on behalf of Galileo Hellas, a Greek company specialising in the electronic distribution of travel services for the tourism and transport sector.

Maintaining our status as a Cisco Premier Partner and acquiring Advanced Wireless LAN specialisation were also important indicators of our know-how in the provision of integrated solutions using Cisco equipment.

The ISO9001:2000 recertification of the company in 2006 was accompanied by a quality award from Eco-Q magazine, again showing our dedication to providing the best possible support to our customers.

CytaGlobal Hellas SA
In line with CYTA’s strategy to expand its operations abroad, Digimed Communications Ltd established Hellas SA in Greece in November 2003. CytaGlobal Hellas, in association with CYTA and CYTA UK Ltd, has developed a   private self-healing advanced-technology ring cable network, based on the IP/MPLS protocol, with nodes in Lefkosia (Nicosia), Athens and London and with international extensions beyond.
